Before we start...

I'd just like to say sorry for not uploading anything here last month. I hope this wasn't too big of an inconvenience.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

Back in January, I reviewed a South African kids' cartoon titled Jungle Beat. While it didn't stink like rotten cheese, it didn't blow me away, either. Now, you might be wondering: how about a French cartoon with essentially the same premise called Gazoon? Well, turns out my childhood memories were not wrong, at all. Here's why I remember this cartoon so fondly from my younger years and why children today would still (likeky) find this show entertaining.

As I mentioned before, Gazoon's premise is basically the same as the one of Jungle Beat, a comedy revolving around the crazy misadventures of a group of African animals. What sets our reviewed show from its older South African brother in this department is that Gazoon has much more creativity in storytelling than Jungle Beat. This cartoon is not afraid to get weird and I love it, since it opens door to some very clever, snappy and imaginative comedy.

This is further enhanced by the animation, with the show's unique, bubbly & cartoony character designs, be it the twin giraffes, the zebra, the elephant or even the snake and the ostrich! On top of that, the colours here vivid, warm and sweet, which works really well with the African setting.

Another thing Gazoon did exceptionally well is the soundtrack. From the incredibly catchy main theme (intro) to various compositions throughout the episodes, each track sets mood for the adventures of our animal friends very fittingly.

In conclusion, if you or your little ones are into such after school cartoons like Shaun the Sheep or Tom & Jerry, except in 3D, Gazoon is an excellent choice. No wonder I remember enjoying watching it at my mum's friend's house on summer afternoons when I was a little girl.

Before we say goodbye...

Thanks for checking out this mini-review. Join me next time, when I try to branch out (again!) and try something different. :)

Love,

      your Diva
